Angela Watson Gives Masterclass at Summer Workshops

July 8, 2025 – Huntersville, NC – On the morning of June 7, Boruff Violin Studio hosted our annual Summer Workshops, welcoming students from all three studio locations for a day of learning and collaborative music-making. The event offered a wide range of group sessions tailored to students of every level—from our youngest beginners in the kickstarter classes to advanced players participating in chamber ensemble workshops and studio classes. One of the exciting aspects of this year’s event was the opportunity for students to collaborate across studio locations. For many, it was their first time playing in a group setting with studio peers from other locations.

We were especially honored to welcome guest violinist Angela Watson of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Watson led a masterclass for our advanced students, offering thoughtful feedback and expert guidance on refining technique, expression, and incorporating breathing and singing into musical phrasing. Her passion for music and mentorship made a profound impact. Students performed a wide range of repertoire, from Bruch’s Violin Concerto to Kreisler’s Praeludium and Allegro to Saint-Saëns’ Rondo Capriccioso.

Events like these are a cornerstone of the student experience at Boruff Violin Studio, providing students a chance to grow not only as individual musicians but also as members of a supportive musical community. We are so proud of every student who participated and grateful to the families, faculty, and Ms. Watson for making the day such a success!
